Is Second Friction Sway Control Needed for 28 foot, 7,000 lb Trailer
Question:
I am getting a 28.8 foot trailer, 795 pounds dry tongue weight, 6925 dry trailer weight. I already have a Reese weight distributing hitch, with a friction sway control which I used on my last trailer, the hitch is rated at 1,200 pounds tongue weight, 10,000 pounds trailer weight. Is it absolutely necessary to have two friction sway controls? My ball only has one sway control ball offset to the passenger side, and does not have the provision for another friction sway control ball. I noticed that the Curt MV hitch with 14k GTW that you sell has only one friction sway control. I just bought a new friction sway control from you to beef my system up.

While it isn't an absolute necessity to use two friction sway control units with your Reese weight distribution system like # RP66542, it is highly recommended that two are used with any trailer longer than 26 feet and more than 6,000 lbs.
What you can do to add a second Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 is have the Sway Control Tab # 3442 welded onto the side of the head of your Reese weight distribution system.
