How Heavy of a 5th Wheel Trailer Can a 2006 Ford F-250 Tow

Question:

What capacity 5 th wheel do I need? What type I will be pulling cars. I want to pull 2 at a time? Do I need to get a 5th wheel that is drilled into the bed?

The weight capacity of a 5th wheel hitch needs to exceed the weight of the trailer it will be pulling. However, your 2006 Ford F-250 must also have a towing capacity that is greater than the weight of the trailer. According to my research, the towing capacity of your F-250 varys from 8,100 to 9,100 depending on options. In order to find the exact amount you will want to refer to the 2006 Ford RV and Trailer Towing Guide which can be found online.

So long as the weight of your 5th wheel trailer is below the maximum towing capacity of your F-250, I recommend using the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 if you have a long bed or the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider part # RP30051 if you have a short bed. In order to install either 5th wheel trailer hitch you will also need the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50082-58 which is a custom fit that does not require any drilling into the truck's frame.

I have attached review videos for you as well.
