Recommended Flat Tow System for 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4

Question:

I have a 2018 georgetown gt5 36b5 bunkhouse motorhome. It came with a 5000 lb hitch. I would like to haul a silverado crew cab 4x4 z71 as a dinghy toad flat tow. What are my options to make this happen?

Your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 curb weight is 5,300 lbs based on my research. To flat tow this vehicle, I recommend upgrading your 5,000 lb hitch to the Curt Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch # 15903 which is a universal fit for frames between 18 and 61 inches wide.

Then for your flat towing setup, I recommend you begin with the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-3176-3 and use Loctite Threadlocker # LT37420 for the installation.

Then for your tow bar, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 along with safety cables # RM-643. For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will give you the ability to utilize your factory truck wiring while protecting it from overload. Your vehicle requires a battery disconnect when flat towing, so I recommend the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766 along with a charge line kit # RM-156-25.

For your braking system I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This system is easy to install and only requires adjustment at initial install. It then becomes an extremely reliable plug and play system. You will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751463 for this application to communicate with your motorhome brake monitoring system.

Finally, you will need a high low adapter. I've attached an article to assist with measuring for the correct fit. I've also linked the page to all your options to make it easy to get the correct fit.
