To switch the Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller, part # TK90160, from your 2006 Toyota Tundra, to your 2011 Toyota Tundra should be very simple.
If you had a factory 7-Way on your 2006 Tundra, you can just unplug the brake controller from the vehicle and use the same # 3040-P wiring harness to install it in the 2011 Tundra.
If you have a 4-Flat connector on your 2011 Tundra right now you can use the Hopkins Adapter, part # 37185, to install a 7-Way. This adapter will plug into the 4-Flat on your vehicle and give you a 7-Way and 4-Flat connector at the rear of your vehicle. After plugging in your 4-Flat to the back of the adapter there will be four extra wires that will need to be hardwired to your vehicle.
The four remaining wires will need to be hardwired to the corresponding circuits on the vehicle. The white (ground) wire will need to be attached to the vehicle frame, the black (12 volt power) wire is connected to the vehicles battery with 10 gauge wire like the # 10-1-1, through a 40-amp circuit breaker # 9510, the blue (trailer brake) wire will be connected to the blue trailer brake feed wire on the brake controller, and the purple ( auxiliary) wire is for reverse lights if you need that circuit. If any of these connections are not needed just wire tie them up out of the way for future use. I am including a link to a video that shows this # 37185 adapter being installed on a 2010 Tundra.
If your 2011 Tundra has no trailer connector you will need to use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118384, to get a 4-Way on your vehicle. Then, you will use the Brake Controller Installation Kit, # ETBC7, and hardwire the brake controller to your vehicle. I am including a link to a FAQ page that will describe in detail how to install the # ETBC7 kit to your vehicle. Also, I am including a link to a video that will show the # ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2009 Toyota Tacoma. A different vehicle, but a similar installation.
