Should Lower Straps of Yakima Hangout 2 Be Put in Anchor Mode When Installing on 2016 Jeep Cherokee

How do I attach the bottom hooks base of the hatch ? The installation video talks about using the hook in anchor mode, but doesnt show where to attach them. At the same time theres a photo of a Jeep Cherokee where they are used as standard hooks. However, when using them as hooks, theres not much grab. Thank you very much.

I checked with Yakima and they state that when installing the Hangout 2 part # Y02637 on a 2016 Jeep Cherokee the lower hooks must be changed and installed in anchor mode so that is the way you should install the rack. I attached a picture that shows how to put the lower straps into anchor mode. Where they install will be basically the width of the bike rack frame.

Yes, the Yakima HangOut 2 Bike Rack #Y02637 is compatible with all models of the 2018 Ford Edge to include your SEL model. The straps wrap over the spoiler and anchor to the rear door on the top and the bottom.
