Manual Operation of Damaged Lippert Auto Leveling Landing Gear System
Question:
My 2015 Heartland Road Warrior with self leveling could not level and all of a sudden smoke was coming out of the compartment and now I have no hydraulics. How can I lift my trailer to load it onto my truck as all of the jacks are only inches off of the ground in the front

Expert Reply:
If your 2015 Heartland Road Warrior 5th wheel is sitting too low to allow you to couple it to your 5th wheel hitch you can try operating your landing gear manually with the hand crank tool that should have been supplied. Even if the powered landing gear is not working manual operation should still be possible since all powered jacks and landing gear include this feature for cases where electrical power is lost. Look for a plastic cap on the top of the jack's gearbox housing, as shown in the linked photo.
Removing this cap should expose the manual crank. As long as the mechanical gear train is not damaged you should be able to extend the front jacks manually to allow hitching the trailer.
The other option is to place a pair of bottle jacks like # ALL640405 under the frame as close to the front of the trailer as possible.
