How to Determine 5 Lug Bolt Pattern of Trailer Wheel

Question:

The guy on the video says to measure from the center of a lug hole across to the center of another lug.....should be 5........Im not getting that measurement. Im getting like 4.5.....and not getting the three inches he says from center of a lug to the center of the lug next to it......I need tires, now Im baffled, dont want to 200 bucks and have the wrong size tires. The utility trailer I bought used has this size Kenda K550 tires

To measure a 5-bolt lug pattern you measure from the center of a bolt hole straight across the center of the wheel to right between two lugs on other side. OR the way I prefer is to measure from the center of a bolt hole to the outside edge of either of the bolt holes furthest from it. This will get you the same measurement. I attached two pictures that show this as well.

Since you mentioned 4-1/2 inch you most likely have the very popular bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inch since this is the most common size seen. The part # AM3S638 uses a much less common bolt pattern of 5 on 5 inch. For basically the same setup as this but with a 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you'd instead want the part # AM3S640DX.
