Parts Needed to Easily Convert 4-Way of Trailer to 7-Way

Question:

Hi, I recently purchased Electric brakes to replace my old corroded hydraulic setup thats has failed. Everything from a wiring perspective works great. Here is my question. It would be really difficult to replace the entire lighting system with a new 7 wire loom. Instead I want to know if I can simply run a single blue 12-16 gauge wire from the new assemblies hook LandR so only need 1 wire to the tongue and then simply purchase a new 7 PIN plug to wire in the existing 4 PIN lights, and the new Blue Brake wire. The second wire from the brake assembly is grounded to the axel tube using self tapping sheet metal screws and a connector. I can then also easily in the future run the red 12v power to a brake away, and have no need for backup lights. My only concern is if this will work appropriately. 1. Does the single Blue wire control the brakes completely? Wasn’t sure about in a backup situation? 2. The 12v power shouldn’t be needed to power the electric brakes correct? 4. Leaving the 12v, and the aux wire from the plug shouldn’t affect anything on the truck side I have a built in braking actuator. Thanks,

We have a kit designed for converting a trailer with a 4-way to having a 7-way. For that you'd want the # HS381-9000 which you'd wire your current 4-way to and then have the ability to easily add additional circuits like trailer brakes by wiring them to the junction box.

The single blue wire from a 7-way controls the brakes and not other circuits (besides ground) need to be ran for it to be complete. The 12 volt accessory circuit would have no affect on the trailer brakes.
