2018 Durango GT Tow Capacity Weight Distribution and Transmission Cooler Recommendation
Question:
We bought a Durango based on the fact that the dealer told us it would tow 6200 lbs. Come to find out, it seems like it will only tow 3500 lbs since it didnt come with the upgrades from the tow package. So, with that said, is there anything we can do to increase the capability of the towing capacity aftermarket?

If it's possible to increase the towing capacity of your vehicle with aftermarket parts only a Dodge dealer will be able to tell you what would accomplish that since they are who designed the vehicle. Typically there is a second, higher towing capacity for a vehicle if they use a weight distribution system like the Fastway e2 part # FA94-00-0600 that you referenced. But that would be listed on the sticker of the hitch.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use. The Fastway kit you mentioned has a range of 400-600 lb.
Also a transmission cooler is typically one of the standard tow package modifications that increase the capacity. For that the Derale part # D13503 would be a great option that would work well.
