Blue Wire on Curt Venturer Brake Controller has Voltage with Just Power and Ground Wires Connected  

Question:

Blue wire is hot and the only wires that are hooked up is the hot and ground HELP PLEASE

If the blue wire on the Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV is putting out 12 volts then that would indicate there is a short inside the controller and it will need to be replaced. If you have a meter such as # PT89ZR use it to check for amperage as well on that blue wire. If there is no amperage then it is dead voltage (which is weird but normal for Curt brake controllers).

Also be sure that you are using the black wire for power into the controller and the white for ground. If you have the red wire hooked up to 12 volt power then that would tell the brake controller that you are stepping on the brake pedal and it would send back voltage on the blue wire accordingly.

If you determine that the controller has an internal short then I recommend replacing it with the Draw-Tite # TK63VR because it has been around a long time and works well.
