Troubleshooting Brake Controller Power not getting to Vehicle 7-Way Connection for Trailer Brakes
Question:
The blue wire has 12 V from the Hayes brake controller when the brake pedal is pressed. The 7 way socket isnt getting this voltage. Is there a fuse or other items between the connector next to the E-brake and the 7 way connector??

It sounds like you are having an issue with the brake output wire on your tow vehicle. There should not be any kind of circuit breaker or fuse on the brake output wire.
You should check the 7-way at the rear of the vehicle. Make sure the brake output is wired to the connector, and that there is no corrosion inside the connector, front and back side, that could be causing the loss of power.
Next, you should check the connector under the dash to see if the brake output wire continues past the connector you mentioned. If so, make sure that the harness you used to plug the brake controller into that connector has the brake output wire installed in the correct position to supply power to the output wire in the under dash connector.
If these steps do not solve the issue, send me the year, make and model of the tow vehicle, whether it has a factory 7-way trailer wiring harness or not and some information about how you installed the brake controller in the vehicle, and I will be glad to help further.
