Recommend Weight Dist System with Sway Control For Trailer with GVWR of 4,900 lbs

Question:

I just purchased a pre-owned 23.5 ft travel trailer with an unloaded weight of 3710 lbs and a GVWR 4,900 lbs. The Hitch Weight is 305 lbs. I pull it with a 2018 Chevy Colorado V6. I would like to upgrade my current Weight Dist System that has friction sway control to something better. I was looking for systems that dont need drilling since the frame already had some holes drilled in it by the previous owner. That led me to the Husky Centerline but I saw some comments that make be wonder if my trailer is too light. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also - I currently have a 2 5/8inch hitch ball. Is that overkill?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Based on that the Reese Steadi-Flex part # RP66558 that you referenced would be ideal. It has a tongue weight range of 300-600 lbs, has a great friction sway control setup and also does not require frame drilling. For a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball you'd then want the part # 19286 and you'd be set.
