Can Hollywood Racks SR1 Tire Mount Bike Rack # HRSR1 Carry 75 lb of Bikes
Question:
I have a question about the the Hollywood Racks SR1 spare tire mount bike rack for Jeep Wranglers. Mine is a 2016 2 door Wrangler. I notice the recommended weight for the 2 bikes is 35 pounds each. The 2 bikes I plan to transport weight about 75 pounds combined, slightly over recommended weight. But in my case, the bikes would only be transported on the highway, with no off road use. I would think off road transport might affect the weight rating, considering rough terrain, etc. Also I would expect the 35 pound weight per bike recommendation allowed for a safety margin. I do not want to damage my swing gate, and would appreciate any advice you could give me, thanks,

Since our bike racks aren't rated for off-road use the weight capacities listed for them are relative to use on highways. Based on that we can't recommend you exceed the weight capacity of any of the spare tire bike racks we have.
The Hollywood Racks SR1 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount # HRSR1 has a capacity of 35 lbs per bike, which sounds like you are just a few lbs per bike over the capacity. If the seat of each bike is easily removable and weighs a couple lbs that would be one way to get you under the capacity and safe.
