Is Truck Bed Capacity Same as Pin Weight Capacity for Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2018 Ford F-250 6.7 crew cab with 6.75 bed. Sticker says it has 10000# package but sticker on drivers door says the combined weight of passengers and cargo should not exceed 2162#. I am confused on what my pin weight limit is to haul a fifth wheel. Any help is helpful. Thanks

Expert Reply:

Truck bed weight capacity and pin weight capacity will be different figures. Reason being that the fifth wheel rails attach directly to the truck bed frame and the truck bed capacity is the capacity of the sheet metal that the truck bed is made of. This is why the capacities are not the same and the pin weight capacity will be higher.

The Demco Hijacker Autoslide part # DM8550024 that you referenced will fit the factory rail kit of your 2018 Ford F-250 directly too. This has an 18k capacity and a pin weight capacity of 4,500 lbs.
