Why Does My 4-Way Trailer Connector Have 5 Wires

Question:

Hello my question is my trailer has 5 wires 2 being brown... my car has 4 wire green, yellow, brown, and white. I believe match the colors .. but do I put both browns from trailer to the brown from car. Any help you can supply would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It sounds like your trailer has a 4-way wishbone connector like part # A35W42B. The connector is only 4 pins but there are 5 wires coming from it. The two brown wires are both for the running lights which makes it easier to install because you have two wires one to run down each side of the trailer. This way when you wire the trailer you don't need a jumper wire to go from one side to the other.

If this is what your setup has then yes the two brown wires are connected to one pin on the trailer's connector.
