Note: This rack receiver is for hitch-mounted accessories only. The receiver tube included with this hitch cannot be used for towing.
If you would like to upgrade this rack receiver for towing, you will need to purchase the Stealth Hitches towing kit (SH36FR - sold separately). The ball mount included in this kit inserts into the center block of the hitch in place of the receiver attachment. A 2" hitch ball is included with the ball mount, making it ready to tow with out of the box.

If you want to take your bikes to the trail with your family this summer, you have plenty of options. You can carry your bikes on top of your car with a roof rack, but that bulky rack can increase drag on your ride. You can use a trunk rack, but that's a pain to mount and it can scratch your car's paint. Or you can install a hitch on your ride and use a hitch-mounted bike rack to carry your bikes.
This rack receiver is designed to act as a mounting point for your hitch bike rack or cargo carrier. Just slide the shank of your carrier into the receiver for use, and when you're done you can not only remove the carrier, but the receiver as well, leaving your vehicle looking clean and unmodified.
Completely Hidden Design
Nothing can ruin the clean, stylish look of your vehicle like a giant piece of metal bolted beneath its bumper. Luckily, with the Stealth Hitches rack receiver, you never have to worry about messing up your vehicle's lines.
This hitch installs behind your bumper, keeping the cross tube concealed and leaving only the hitch receiver visible. Even better, the receiver can be easily removed from the cross tube when it's not in use so that you won't see any trace of the hitch. This means that you can retain that clean, from-the-factory look for your ride, while still being able to carry your bikes and gear on the next family road trip.
Simple Set Up
The receiver can be attached or detached in seconds with no tools required. To insert the receiver, simply pop the base up into the stainless steel block at the center of the hitch until it automatically latches in place.
Be sure to then press the lock on the side of the block to fully secure the receiver. When you're finished carrying your bikes or cargo, use the included key to unlock the latch. Then turn the handle on the block clockwise and remove the receiver. You can stow the receiver in a safe place, like your vehicle's rear cargo area, or you can use a convenient carrying case (391CASER - sold separately).
And when you're not using the receiver attachment, the included hitch plug covers the center block's opening to protect the hitch's body from dirt and debris.

2019 Volvo V90
This is perfect, took less than 2 hours to install and it was exactly as the video had shown with the extra screw from the bumper to the fender.
One thing to note if you are not comfortable do any car work then pay someone to do this. Putting the rear bumper back on will take patience as you need to align it correctly, as 2 people is required for the removal and attaching the bumper.

Outstanding product, extremely well made. Does exactly what it says it will do. Blends perfectly with the car lines and trim, you don’t know theres a hitch under the bumper, it is so clean and professional. So easy to remove and install the hitch piece. Customer service is awesome too, I did my research and got a live person to help me with my decision and they were so friendly. You won’t regret buying this product, all around great experience.

Purchased to repair a stripped bolt on my Yakima Backswing. Despite the product listing the Backswing as a compatible item, the piece did not fit. After digging and calling Yakima directly, I learned that this product works on the OLD Backswing bike rack, NOT the newer Backswing hitch adapter. Etrailer was great about returning the item, but the listing for this product could be updated to be more clear.

So glad to find a custom fit rack for the V90. The printed instructions coupled with the installation video really do make the installation straightforward. Install time was about 1.5 hours, with the help of a mechanically experienced brother. We followed the instructions exactly as provided, and all details needed for the install were well covered and relevant. An optional tip would be to remove the rear wheels if feasible. This speeds up access to the 5 wheel well bolts and clip on each side. We had 2 jack stands available so followed this route. Just remember to torque the lug bolts to Volvo spec, 105 ft. pounds, when re-installing the wheels. One other short cut involved installing the latch block on the hitch before reinstalling the bumper. This made access to the bolts both to tighten and fit the torque wrench much easier. Following install, the hitch looks and works great with our Kuat bike rack, plenty of clearance when exiting our steep drive way.

I use it to carry a bicycle rack. When I am not using it for that, you have to get under the car to see it. It fits perfectly and is of the highest possible quality.

Decided to install the hitch myself after one installer quoted me $450 and another one quoted me $650.
Using the supplied directions, I was able to knock it out in a little under 3 hours. Getting to the 5 screws in each wheel well would be easier if you remove the rear tires I have 20 inch wheels... and getting the bunker back on is a little scary too, but I managed.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would. This is our 2nd stealth hitch and they are fantastic. Docking this particular hitch a half star because the fascia cutting instructions (step 28) were very hard to follow for the V90. If you made it that far in the install process, you are totally capable of making cuts and test fitting a few times but more than one oddly annotated photo would have save me a few additional cuts.

Overall a really nice rack solution and perfect for a Volvo V90. The install was moderately difficult but quite doable if you are at all handy. Only more challenging part was the block that bolts into the main bar was slightly oversized (or the bar was slightly too small) so it took some serious work with a rubber mallet to get it into the right position to put the bolts through it. (And between the good price on this hitch at etrailer and whatever the local rack retailer wanted to install it - I saved $[XX] buying it here and installing it myself - worth the effort). Oh - you do need a standard socket set and a good torque wrench and a 15/16 socket, which fortunately my neighbor had - it’s a larger size than most sets have. But even with those challenges, this is a great solution for a rear-mount bike rack on a Volvo V90. Love that it’s completely invisible when you pop out the hitch connector.

Fantastic, use it for the bike rack and also for a cargo carrier on our travels. You dont have to look at the ugly receiver hanging there when not in use.
