Powering 12V Cooler Stored in Trailer  

Question:

my 4 x6 trailer has all led lights. will i be able to hook up my power chill cooler to the system in the trailer wirh out over loading the system? the specs from Coleman says the cooler draws 48 watts at 4 amps

It looks like your Coleman PowerChill Cooler uses a 12V plug to connect to a 12V power source. Splicing the cooler's wiring to the tail light circuit on your trailer will overload the system and I do not recommend powering the cooler this way.

From what I was able to find on the cooler, it appears to come with a cigarette lighter style plug that can be used in a vehicle. If this is the case, I instead recommend taking a look at the Hopkins 12V Socket # HM55125. This 12V power socket can be mounted in your trailer and it includes 17 feet of wire that can be used to reach a battery or the 7-Way on the trailer. You can then simply plug the cooler right into this socket to power the unit.
