Can 12 Volt Light Wiring be Used to Install Hopkins 12-Volt Socket with Utility Light # HM55125
Question:
Hi I want to completely remove a 12v wall mounted double light from my trailer, and use the existing wiring to mount this socket/light in its place. The existing wiring is 14 gauge and the circuit amps is 15. The wiring is in a tube/conduit going up the wall, so I think this would be perfect for this light. The wire at the other end is attached to the trailer power converter. Would I still need to ground it? If this works, would you supply the socket/light without the redundant wires? Attached is a photo showing the double light unscrewed from the trailer wall, so you can see the wiring. You can see the top end of the conduit attached to the wall. Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can install Hopkins 12-Volt Socket with Utility Light # HM55125 in place of your existing light. But the socket/light is only available with the wire. Even though would will not need the extra wire its always good to have extra wire laying around. You can never have too much wire!
The socket will still have to be grounded but you can use the ground wire that is already present.
