Setting Brake Power on Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller For First Time
Question:
When you set up the brake controller for the first time, you set the power to 6 with no boost, drive the vehicle and trailer on a flat surface at 25 mph, then fully apply the manual override. Adjust the power as needed to reach a point just before wheel lock up. Does that mean when you reach 25 mph that when you put on the manual override you take your for off the gas pedal?

When initially setting the power on your Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195 you will follow the process you stated. I've attached these instructions to further assist.
You will get up to 25 mph and release the gas pedal and then fully engage the manual override only without hitting the brake pedal. You don't want the trailer wheels to lock up, but you do want them to apply significant braking force just shy of locking the tires.
You may need to repeat the process a few times to get the correct braking pressure so you can set the brake boost for normal trailer towing using your brake pedal and not the manual override which is to be used for faster stopping or emergency stopping as needed.
