Of the trailer wiring harnesses available for your 2016 Mazda CX-5 I lean towards the Tekonsha # 118563. All three function and install in basically the same way, but our installers prefer Tekonsha over Curt because they tend be less problematic later on and I see no reason to pay the much higher price for the Hopkins. So for my money it's the Tekonsha. I've linked an install video for you as well.
If you haven't already selected a trailer hitch receiver I recommend the Draw-Tite, part # 76138. I prefer the design becasue of how it installs with the bolt holes going up into the frame as opposed to in the frame from the side. In my opinion it's an easier connection to make.
If you also need a ball mount then I recommend our kit, part # 989900. It includes a few ball mounts and hitch balls to give you some vareity between different trailers you may tow. First you need to find the rise or drop you need with your trailer though. I've linked an article to help you with this. I've also linked some other articles on towing you also may find helpful.
