Question:

How is the fit on this rack for 2012 Range Rover sport? Specifically the clearance of the back hatch when the rack is tilted and loaded?

The Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Platform Rack # Y02443-2 referenced in your question will fit with your 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport as long as it has a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver installed. As you mentioned, this 4-bike rack can be tilted down and away from the vehicle with the bikes still loaded. Whether or not you will have any interference when opening the rear hatch on your Range Rover will really depend on the type/size of bikes you will have loaded and the position of the hitch receiver under the vehicle. Because of this, it's difficult to say for certain if the rear hatch will open fully with the bikes loaded on the tilted carrier.

Take a look at the video demonstration on this bike rack that I have attached. As you can see at around the 0:56 mark, even if the size of your bikes prevent the rear door from opening fully, you should still be able to open it enough to access the rear cargo area with the bikes still loaded.

For a 4-bike rack that is guaranteed to clear the rear cargo area completely, I recommend taking a look at a swing-away rack like the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack # Y02465. This hanging-style, 4-bike rack features a hinged arm in its base that allows it to actually swing out and away from the rear of your Range Rover. It has a total weight capacity of 160 pounds and a bike and hitch lock are also included.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this bike rack so you can get a closer look at its features.
