Where Do I Plug In Brake Controller Wiring Adapter On 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Question:

I would like to install a brake controller. With that in mind, where does the vehicle-specific wiring adapter attach under the dash - is it plugged into the vehicles OBD port, or another place?

If you have a factory 7-way on your 2010 Chevrolet Traverse the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3026-P plugs into the 6-pin connector your vehicle brake controller # 90195 wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. It does not plug into the on-board diagnostics system (ODB). I have a picture of the exact plug in location linked to this page. If your Traverse doesn't have a factory 7-way then this connector will not be present under the dash. You will need to hardwire a brake controller and won't need the # 3026-P adapter.

If your 2010 Chevrolet Traverse has a factory installed 4-Way connection, then you will simply need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to convert it to a fully functioning 7-Way on your Traverse.

If you don't have the factory trailer connector you still need # ETBC7 to hardwire your controller. First you will need the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118450 to install # ETBC7. The plug in location for the 4-way is behind the driver and passenger side tail lights. This product may require an aftermarket electrical mounting box or bracket # 18144.

I have attached a video of this kit being installed on a 2011 Traverse that you can use as a reference.

The brake controller I recommend for you to use is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it has an easy-to-use LCD screen that eliminates the use of codes for operation and it has received countless positive reviews from customers.
