In order to activate the electric brakes on a trailer you will need to have a 7-Way trailer connector and a brake controller. To add a 7-Way, you will first need to install a 4-Way wiring harness, # 118467, that you have referenced. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation. However, the 2010 and above models please note the the special instructions on the product page below the description.
Once you have the 4-Way installed, you will need to hardwire in a 7-Way using Kit # ETBC7. This kit comes with everything you will need to add a 7-Way. It also includes the wiring needed to add a brake controller. I have included a link to an FAQ article and a link to a video that explains how to install an ETBC7 kit. The only other part you may need is a circuit tester, # PTW2993.
Finally, you will need a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is our most popular controller because it is easy to use and easy to set up. I have included a link to the installation details for the brake controller.
