Hitch & Cargo Carrier For Food Truck

Question:

I need a custom hitch and carrier to be mounted on the back of a Thor Toy-hauler we use as a Food Truck. We use the patio, so I am looking for an adaption of a hitch with a swing arm so that the patio can be used with the hitch in place. For the carrier, I am looking for one that will move to the drivers side of the RV and it will hold a generator 2000 watt and an ice chest for sodas. I would like to have the carrier be a top loading cage that can lock for theft prevention when parked and left unattended for short periods of time or overnight at a hotel when used for travel. The height of the cage would be approximately 24. The width of the Thor is 8ft. I am thinking the carrier would be limited to 48inch to 56inch in width and hold up to 400lbs. Is this something your company could build? Thank you for your input.

That sounds like awesome ideas to enhance your food truck. The best that we can do is find a standard trailer hitch that can fit your trailer based on the dimensions you need. For example a hitch like # 13703 could work well for you as long as your frame is between 22 and 72 inches wide. In regards to any other enhancements like swing arms we don't build options like that at etrailer.com.

Although we don't build custom carriers, you may want to consider a product like the Carpod Walled Folding Cargo Carrier # M2205-01-02. This product is perfect for hauling cargo of all shapes, sizes and weights. It is a versatile, hitch-mounted carrier with lockable lid and weather-resistant bag and folds flat when not in use. That way you can store or lock the unit when your're away or at a hotel. The storage capacity is 13.25 cu ft and weight capacity is up to 450 lbs. The overall dimensions are 48-3/4" long x 24" wide x 22" tall.

I recommend a padlock with a 3/8" diameter like Master Lock Laminated Steel Padlock # ML312D for the lockable lid and Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 or # PC3 are required to secure the carrier to your hitch.
