Flat Towing Parts Needed for 2018 Lincoln MKX with Adaptive Cruise Control
Question:
I have purchased a 2018 Lincoln MKX to Flat Tow behind my Winnebago. I already have the Blue Ox System from towing a Jeep with the Aventa LX 10,000 lb tow bar. It does have Adaptive Cruise with the 2.7 GTDI engine. Can you give me a list of required parts to flat tow please. And do you install as well? If not do you know or have a trusted Installer to suggest? I will be in your area mid July. Thank you in advance.

I am happy to help you with the flat towing components needed to complete the setup for your 2018 Lincoln MKX. I linked an overview article on flat towing that covers everything from A to Z.
Starting with base plates the item from Blue Ox that you referenced, # BX2673, is an excellent choice and what I would have recommended. This base plate will work well with your Aventa LX tow bar. If you need replacement safety cables you can use kit # RM-643.
For a wiring/lighting kit you have many options, all shown on the linked page, which include easy-install magnetic lights like LED light kit # TLL21RK as well as hardwire diode kits that are more involved. The linked article on tow bar wiring may be of interest as you consider the available choices.
My absolute "go-to" braking option is the wireless and portable Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR which is easy to install and which can move with you to your next towed vehicle since it does not require an invasive installation.
We do indeed do base plate installations here at etrailer and if you'd like to schedule that process while you're in our area you can speak to a Customer Service representative to schedule. Please call our toll-fee number 800-298-8924.
