Tow Dolly for a Full Size Truck with Front Track of 79 and 78 Inches

Question:

The best tow dolly we offer is the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Self-Steering Wheels and Electric Brakes part # RM-2000-1. This dolly as the title suggest has self steering wheels for increased maneuverability, electric brakes for safety, and lights for DOT compliance. The only thing one would need to use this dolly is a trailer connector like part # PK11604 for a 6-way or part # PK12706 for a 7-way. This dolly will accept a vehicle with a front track up to 76" wide which would seem to be a bit too narrow for your application. The dolly also only accepts wheel sizes from 12" - 16" therefore would also not work for you in this aspect either. The weight capacity of 4,380 lbs would be a problem for either vehicle as well. There are few dolly's available that are equipped to tow full-size trucks. Therefore, if permitted, I recommend towing the vehicle with all four wheels on the ground. In order to do this you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, flat-towing wiring, a supplemental braking system, and a possible high-low adapter. If you would like for me to recommend these parts for you, I would need to know the complete year, make, model, and trim of each vehicle. Once you can provide me with this info I would be happy to recommend the correct parts for you.

In addition to the base plate kit, tow bar, and flat-tow wiring harness you will also need safety cables, a supplemental braking system, and a possible high-low adapter. Please keep in mind that some states require the use of a supplemental braking system regardless of the weight of the tow vehicle therefore you will want to check with your local DMV to see if one is required. For a set of safety cables, I recommend using the Roadmaster Safety Cables part # RM-653. These are coiled cables which helps prevent dragging/tangling and they have a 10,000lb weight capacity. For a supplemental braking system (if required), I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System part # BLU37TR. This system will ensure that the brakes in your toad are activated at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your RV. It is very easy to install and does not require any permanent modifications to the vehicle. In order to find the correct high-low adapter you will want to refer to the attached article.
