Replacement Steps for Lippert 216945 Steps

Question:

So I installed my new steps that I was recommended by Jon G. They fit perfectly and I got them and they work except for one key thing, they open and close in the opposite direction they are supposed too? In other words they extend when I CLOSE the door, and retract when I open the door?? pus they dont retract when I start the RV as they should.??

I spoke with my contact at Lippert who informed me that the 216945 that you referenced is no longer sold but there are replacement steps for you.

The Kwikee 25 Series Steps # LC3658373 will replace your steps directly. They have a rise of 8" and a run of 9" with a weight capacity of 300 lbs. My contact at Lippert confirmed this is the replacement that you need.

Glad to hear that they fit perfectly! The problem that you are experiencing with your Kwikee steps is actually a pretty simple fix. It sounds like you connected the extend and retract wires to the opposite wires they are supposed to connect to. Try swapping those wires with what they are connected to and that should fix your problem! If it doesn't just let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.

@JonG I watched the install video and it stated that after the steps are installed they will work backwards until the door sensors are changed to the ones provided in the kit.

@NormP It depends on the sensor. Basically, if the steps are activating opposite of what they should be then you need to swap the wires.
