Recommended Trailer Coupler for Lightweight Boat Trailer
Question:
What trailer coupler do you recommend using on my 1,600 lb boat trailer.

As long as the tongue on your boat trailer does not exceed 3" wide, I recommend using the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler part # 12564. This coupler fits a 2" hitch ball, has a 10,000 lb weight capacity, and comes with a zinc plating for corrosion resistance. It has an eZ-Latch mechanism which means you do not have to open the latch to couple the trailer. It is also made right here in the U.S.A.
If you would like to protect the trailer from theft, I recommend using a lock like part # e98888. This lock will prevent the hitch ball from being detached from the coupler in addition to preventing one from being attached while inserted. I have included a review video of the coupler and lock for you as well.
