How to Stop a CHMSL From Blinking When Turn Signals Are Applied

Question:

Ive had a new Leer topper with CHMSL installed on my 2017 Silverado 1500. The installer tapped into the left tail light assembly and as a result, the CHMSL on the Leer topper blinks when both the brakes and left signal are on. I see that I can use a tail light converter to isolate a brake only wire, but they always show hooking the converter up to both the left and right tail lights on the truck. Can I install it in the left tail light assembly area, connect only to the left turn/brake wiring and disregard the suggested connection to the right turn/brake light? Will it still provide a brake only signal on the red wire?

I spoke to my contact at Curt about the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter part # C56196. They informed me that only one side (right side stop/tail or left side stop/tail) of the two wire system needs to be attached to the converter box in order to receive a signal at the brake light wire for the three wire system. Therefore, you will only need to attach the converter box to one side of the vehicle's taillights in order to stop the CHMSL on your Leer topper from blinking when the turn signals are applied.
