Recommendation for Using Thule Hullavator on 2014 Subaru Outback with Factory Roof Rack
Question:
Hello, Id like to install the Hullavator on my 2014 Outback, but understand that my factory crossbars do not have the overhang required for this system. What products would be necessary to get the Hullavator properly installed on a 2014 Subaru Outback? Thanks!

You are correct that the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898 will not work with the factory roof rack on your Subaru Outback, as the crossbars do not extend the required 4 to 8 inches beyond the side rails.
In order to use this system, I recommend installing the Thule Square Bar Roof Rack, which consists of # TH712200 for the two 47 inch Square Load Bars and # TH710401 for the Evo Raised Rail Feet. This will work perfectly on the roof of your Outback and will allow you to use the excellent Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier. I confirmed this with Thule.
The Thule Hullavator is a great choice for securing your kayak to the Outback. Its folding arms with gas struts will reduce the strain of loading your boat from the side of your vehicle and it features a weight capacity of 75 pounds. 2 tie-down straps with padded buckles are included.
