Installation of Primus IQ Brake Controller on 2008 Dodge Ram
Question:
Hello I have a 2008 ram 1500. I have already purchased the primus IQ and adapter to plug into the factory connector user the dash. I only have the factory flat 4 in the rear so I have to tap into a wire that is under the fender well and it’s supposed to be a blue one, my question is When testing it with a voltage tester am I just looking for 12volts when the brake pedal is pushed in? Thank you

With the factory 4-flat on your 2008 Dodge Ram you are going to need added parts to install the Primus IQ Brake Controller # TK90160.
To finish the install you are going to also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 which gives you the added wiring, circuit breakers and 7- and 4-way trailer connector needed to install the controller. Once installed you would not get 12V when the brake pedal is pushed in, you would need to get 12V when testing the controller and using the manual override.
I have added a help article for you on how to install a brake controller in a Dodge Ram truck with a factory 4-way for you to take a look at, as well as a link to a video review of the # ETBC7 kit.
