How to Carry Bikes on a 2008 BMW 335i Convertible
Question:
hi - i have a 2008 335i BMW. it is a hardtop convertible with the sport package. i am wondering if the trailer hitches your system lists for the 335i sedan will fit my car? i am looking for something as small and low profile as possible to use for a bike rack..... no towing

I do have an option for you to carry bikes on your 2008 BMW 335i but they currently do not make a trailer hitch that will fit the convertible models of this vehicle to my knowledge. A roof rack would also not work for you due to the convertible top therefore the only way to carry bikes on your vehicle would be with a trunk mounted bike rack. For this, I recommend the Thule Gateway 2-Bike Rack part # TH88VR.
The Gateway is one of the best trunk mount bike racks on the market. The reason for this has to do with the attachment points on the vehicle and bikes. This rack uses 6 points of contact to secure to the vehicle and three points of contact to secure the bike to the rack. The average contact points for a trunk mount bike rack are four for the vehicle and two for the bike. This rack also has foam foot pads to help prevent the rack from scratching your vehicle.
