Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question:

Wow, totally awesome. One last question (ok two). This vehicle does not have a transmission cooler, I'm pretty sure that it is needed. Lastly, will I need any suspension enhancements?

I did some checking and your 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan has a towing capacity of 3,700 lbs so you'd be within capacity to tow a 3,200 lb trailer. For a hitch you'd want the part # 75305 for if you have the stow n go rear seats or part # 75119 for if you do not. I attached an install video for the # 75305.

For trailer wiring you'd want the # 118300 as a start but since you're so near your capacity you'll want a brake controller as well to activate the trailer's brakes to help you slow safely.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.

If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

A transmission cooler would be a great option to help prolong the life of your transmission. For that the Derale # D13503 would be your best option. We had the chance to install this cooler on a Grand Caravan like yours and it worked well. Check out the install video I attached for more info on that. Suspension enhancement would be a great option too. For that we have the Timbren kit part # TDVR05096 which is a confirmed fit and will work well.
