How to Tow a Trailer with Brakes with a 1995 Chevrolet Impala SS
Question:
I am looking at getting part # c12009 trailer hitch and want to make sure that it is compatible to my 95 SS impala. I have read the reviews, but wanted to make sure of fit. Also, do you have a wiring set up with trailer brake for this hitch. I plan on towing a pop up camper with a weight of about 2300 lbs. Would appreciate any input or information about this application.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12009 is a confirmed fit for your 1995 Chevrolet Impala SS and will work well for you. In order to tow a trailer with brakes you will also need to use both the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55347 and the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers part # ETBC7. If you need a brake controller I recommend the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV with the Universal Wiring Adapter part # C51515.
The only other things you will need to complete your towing setup is a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin. For this, I recommend the Curt Class II Drawbar part # C45522, 2" Hitch Ball part # C40018, and Curt Class I and II Pin and Clip part # F-4. If your trailer uses a different size hitch ball please let me know and I would be happy to adjust my recommendation accordingly.
Before getting started, you will also want to take a peek in your owner's manual for the vehicle's towing capacity as this will dictate the weight of the trailer that can be towed with the vehicle, not the trailer hitch.
