Recommended Hitch Extender for Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch and 2 Inch Bike Rack
Question:
The Draw-Tite # 24857 for your 2008 BMW is only rated for Class I. This means the only options to have your bike rack fit are the # HTAD or the # HT5R that are compatible with Class I hitches. You will limit the 200 lb tongue weight capacity of your hitch to 100 lbs because the adapter will reduce the hitch's tongue weight by 50%. That new 100 lb capacity will need to include the weight of your bike carrier as well as the loaded bikes. I also recommend using a hitch lock like # e98880 to lock your adapter to you hitch so your bike rack locking pin will work properly. You may also want to use an anti-rattle like # RM-061-125.
