Recommended 7-Way Connector for a Trailer to Connect to a 2014 Ford F-150 with 7-Way Connector
Question:
I have a tandem axle boat trailer with brakes. I have 7 wires coming from the trailer and then it is wired into a 5 pin flat wire connector and then it is plugged into a 7 pin adapter that plugs into my 2014 f150. Can I just wire the boat directly to the 7 pin connector and remove the 5pin? Is there a reason this is done other than to give more two vehicle options? If I can do this which connector would you suggest so that I only have to do this once? I appreciate your time

You are definitely in the correct mindset. Since you have a 7-Way on your tow vehicle it just makes sense to change out the 5-Way on your trailer for a 7-Way.
If you have enough length for the 7 wires on your trailer then you can simply use the Pollak Connector # PK12706, but if you need some additional length you want to go with the Hopkins Connector and Cable # H20046 which is 8' long. I have linked some pictures you can use to help you with the installation of these products.
One of the best ways to make your connections is through a junction box like what is included with the part # HS381-9000. The junction box pins are labeled and all of the ring terminals that you need for the installation are included. The best part about the junction box is that it makes replacing future wiring simpler.
I have linked our installation videos for each product for you to check out.
