Troubleshooting Brake Controller Install that Does Not Show Trailer Connection
Question:
Brake controller replaced with same wiring. Everything works, even the brake lights, but the controller doesnt recognize it is connected to a trailer. I did measure a 30 ohm resistance on the ground.from the plug to where ever it goes. Odd I thought.

Any time there is an issue for a brake controller where it doesn't want to show a connection to a trailer the issue is on the blue wire of the controller. Since you used the same wiring that the vehicle came with most likely the issue is corrosion on the brake output circuit of the 7-way. On the 7-way check out the pin in the 5:00 position on both the vehicle and trailer. Make sure it is clean and free of corrosion so that it can make a solid connection. This pin being bent can also prevent the connection from being made so you might check for that as well.
