Can the Lionshead Steel Dual Wheel # LHHA420 be Used on a 1976 Barth Motorhome with Alignment Ring
Question:
Motorhome has 16 x 6 8 on 6.5 dually wheels. The original wheels are the snap ring style with an Alignment ring that goes between the rim and Lugnuts. This ring has two nipples that line up with holes on the rim. Can I replace with LHHA420? Will I still need to use the alignment ring? I’m guessing these wheels will also require different Lugnuts? I am including two photos, one is a loner rim with the alignment ring mounted backwards just to roll it up on a trailer. Other is a photo of original rim. Thanks

The Lionshead Steel Dual Wheel # LHHA420 is an excellent option for a replacement wheel on your 1976 Barth Motorhome.
This wheel has a 5-1/2" offset and is hub piloted which means that it centers on the hub and not the lugs. For this application you need a flange wheel nut like part # 95188.
What it looks like that alignment rings does it change the wheel from being hub piloted to lug piloted meaning that it centers on the lugs. This wheel has a 4.75" pilot diameter so if it doesn't fit correctly over the hub then you will want to use the alignment ring.
Either way there really is no harm in using the alignment ring. It allows you to use your current lug nuts that have a taper as opposed to the flange nuts that fit on a wheel with a flat surface where the lugs install.
