Can Trailer Axle Hubs Replace Mobile Home Hubs
Question:
Can I change house trailer axle hubs to standard wheel type hubs? If so, what do I need to buy?

Generally, mobile home axles, hubs, and their parts are designed for one time use applications. They do not normally follow standard sizes and it is very difficult to find replacement parts or other trailer axles, hubs, and parts that are compatible.
To determine if you can change your mobile home hubs with trailer hubs, you will need to find out if a trailer hub will fit your spindle. To find this out, you will need either the bearing and seal part numbers from the bearings and seal on the spindle or you can take some precise measurements to find the inner diameter of the bearings and seals with a digital caliper like Item # PTW80157. I have attached a picture to help you out.
If trailer hubs are available, you will more than likely have to change your wheels and tires as well because mobile home wheels are typically not compatible with trailer hubs. Send us your measurements and we can make specific recommendations.
For safety and for easier maintenance in the future, I recommend replacing the mobile home axles with trailer axles.
I have attached additional information and a link to our trailer hubs and drums available that will assist you with your project.
