Weight Distribution Hitch with Cargo Trailer That Weighs 10,000 lb When Fully Loaded

Question:

Hello, I have a cargo trailer with a max weight of 10,000 lbs fully loaded. When I use it, I will go from fully loaded to empty about 3500 lbs 5-10 times per day. If a weight distribution hitch is installed and adjusted for when the trailer is fully loaded, will any adjustment have to be made for when it is empty? If so, what is involved? Because of the frequent changed in trailer weight, I dont want to have a lengthy adjustment to make every time the trailer is loaded or unloaded. Thanks,

Weight distribution has to be set up for each specific tongue weight the trailer will see. Best option for you might be to go with a system ideal for your loaded trailer tongue weight and then when unloaded just disconnect the bars. Otherwise you are going to spend a lot of time setting things back up. Actually it might even be in your best interest to do air bags on your tow vehicle instead since you'll be able to vary the air pressure as needed.

For a system that would work well with a trailer that weighs 10k loaded we have the Curt system part # C17422 which has a tongue weight range of 1,000 to 1,500 lbs. It also comes with a friction sway control unit that you can keep installed when you disconnect the bars.
