Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller Installation in 2006 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
I’m trying to wire up the electric brake for my 7-pin connector. The blue wire has been ran back to the connector on the rear of the truck. In the cab under the dash, I’ve discovered a green wire that carries the electric break output from the controller. My question is where and how is the safest way to spice or terminate the green wire come from the cab and blue wire coming from 7 pin connector in the rear of truck to the driver side wheel well? Where do I terminate this blue wire specifically?

Any trailer brake controller, including the Curt Venturer # C74VV, uses a 4-wire hookup. All brands and models of trailer brake controller have a white ground wire, a black 12V power wire, a red input signal wire and a blue output wire. The white ground wire connects to battery negative; the black power wire connect to the battery + terminal through a 30-amp circuit breaker or fuse; the red input signal wire connects to the cold side of the brake light switch above the brake pedal; and the blue output wire connects to the 7-way trailer connector pin that is at the 5-o-clock position as you look at the socket.
Please refer to the linked photo and articles for controller installation details.
If you installed your Venturer controller using Curt quick-connect harness # C51332 that plugs in under the dash (to a connector that is usually blue) then you should not need to connect the green wire; it should already connect to the 7-way.
If you do need to splice the green and blue wires to complete the output circuit use a crimp-on butt connector such as # 05732-2.
