How to Bypass 12 Volt Wiring of Ford F-150 for 7-Way Trailer Wiring Circuit

Question:

I have been to ford and I have been to a trailer shop and no one has been able to find and answer for this. Truck is two months old. I have an electric jack on my trailer that requires 12v to power it. With truck running I have no power at the jack. However if I engage the brake, I have power and am able to operate the jack. I have factory brake controller. Truck recognizes the trailer. All other functions of trailer work fine. I have set the trailer up but still nothing. Im sure I can run a wire for it, but Im hoping there is an answer for this.

The 12 volt pin on your 7-way should be the one in the 1:00 position. If yours is getting voltage only when the brakes are applied I'd recommend checking that you are using the correct pin.

One easy alternative is bypass the Ford wiring and run a length of 10 guage wire like part # 10-1-1 through a breaker like part # 9510 to the positive post of your vehicle battery to the 1:00 pin of your 7-way and you'll have a 12 volt cirucit hot all the time.
