Correcting and Replacing Corroded Rhino-Rack Lock Cores on Roof Rack  

Question:

how do I get the locking side cover off rhino roof rack if the lock has corroded and the key no longer works, tried to clean out but to no avail? how can i remove without damaging base? it is on a nissan 2007 versa hatchback Ive seen your suggestions regarding replacing lock but its assuming you can get key in lock which I cannot thanks

If a lock core is corroded to the point that the key will not work you can try applying a penetrating solvent like WD40 or PB Blaster. These products will sometimes require multiple applications and maybe also a fair amount to time to soak in and work on the corrosion.

If that efforts fails then you can carefully drill out the lock core, just enough to allow you to take it out and install a replacement.
