Is a Weight Distribution Hitch Allowed for 2017 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with the tow package. Your website states that the hitch needs to be rated for use with a weight distribution hitch. There is nothing marked on the hitch and the owners manual doesn’t state anything. Jeep customer assist could not answer nor the dealer. All I know is that it is listed in brochures as a class III with a rating of 4500 lbs / 450 lbs. Can I use a weight distribution hitch?

The fact that your Jeep dealer and Jeep customer assistance could not tell you this information is surprising. They should be able to. I took a look at the 2017 Jeep Cherokee owner's manual and it says on pages 370 and 371 under the trailer towing section that it is recommended to use a weight distribution hitch such as # FA92-00-0450 for heavier capacities.
