Replacing Incandescent Light Bulbs with High-Efficiency LED Elements to Save Trailer Battery Power

Question:

Hi. I have a simple 921 incandescent bulb in my range hood over the stove in my RV. I need it brighter and came across these two choices you have listed. Will either of these LEDs work in the 921 wedge socket? Starlights LED Wedge Base Lamp # 2inch 277-000102 OR 906/921 LED Bulb - Wedge Base - 360 Degree - 13 Diodes - 215 Lumen - Cool White # DI48VR Thanks

Changing from the common incandescent 921 bulb to an LED type that drops right in in place of it is a great way to accomplish several things at once.

LEDs use only 1/10th as much power and they generate much less waste heat; this means that your RV battery power will last longer. LEDs also do not wear out like incandescent bulbs. And they do not tend to change color. Incandescent bulbs tend to turn ever more yellow with age and use. LEDs are made in several color options too, which lets you use brighter white bulbs in your kitchen and softer light colors in a bedroom for instance. LEDs cost more but they are worth it.

We offer LED equivalents for 921 bulbs as well as many other bulb types. On the linked page you can select the bulb number of the ones you want to replace. Click on bulb type 921 to see LEDs like the item you referenced, part # DI48VR, which WILL fit into the existing wedge socket. For a very bright 921 replacement we offer the 15-LED bulb set # P340921W-360.
