Can Therma Heat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad # 277-000164 be Sandwiched Between Tank and Metal Housing
Question:
My new Thor Freedom Elite 26he mounts the freshwater tank partially under the floor in a sheet metal bin. The bin is not insulated inside or out. :- I am concerned that travel in freezing weather could cause a problem. My question is can I place the heater under the tank inside the bin. The tank would sit upon the heater and be squished by the weight of 40 gallons of water when completely full. If this is a bad idea what do you think about mounting the heater to the outside of the sheet metal bin which is in uninsulated - direct contact with the freshwater tank?

You may not have to squish the Therma Heat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad # 277-000164 at all. It would need to be in contact with the plastic tank since it cannot be mounted on a conductive surface. What you can do though is once it is installed and you go to put the metal bin back around the tank you could add a few washers so the metal bin hangs just a tad lower thus eliminating the squish.
