Ways to Flat Tow a 1993 Jeep Wrangler with Aftermarket Front Bumper

Question:

I have an after market bumper and the D ring bracket measures, 7/8 thick with a 15/16 hole. Do you have a mount that would work. Would it be ok for 7/8 bolt to be in 15/16? I can possibly drill out to one inch but hole might not come out square. Also would it be ok to shim thickness with stainless washers or grade 8 from one inch to the 7/8 bracket. Hoping you have a simple solution for me,

We currently have two d-ring bumper adapters which are the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts part # RM-035 for 3/4" thick or part # RM-035-1 for 1" thick. These adapters are for factory bumpers with d-rings that are suited for flat towing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend you modify the bumper or these adapters in any way as this would void the manufacturer's warranty and pose a significant safety risk. I would also make sure that the d-rings on the front of your aftermarket bumper are suited for flat towing as most are not.

Instead, I recommend using the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit part # 1409-1 which will work for you as long as your aftermarket bumper has a flat surface that the brackets can mount to. I have attached the install instructions for this kit. If you need any other parts to complete you flat-towing setup please let me know and I would be happy to recommend some options.
