Using the Yakima Flushbar System on a 2016 Volkswagen Touareg
Question:
I have a 2016 Touareg with raised silver rails that run front to back. i am looking at your crossbars part number Part Numbers: Y00456-0457,Y00158 and have these questions. Do these rails have feet that mount to my 2016 touareg railings? and since i have a moon/sun roof that raises when opening, will these cross bars be high enough or another way to ask is, about how much clearance from top of roof to bottom of cross bar? Thank you.

The kit on the Yakima Flushbar kit, part # Y00456-0457 and part # Y00158 do include the feet to connect to your flush rails. This is actually the fit kit, part # Y00158's entire job. The fit kit will clip into the bottom of the towers on the end of the crossbar and help adjust the bars to fit your roof correctly.
I never recommend opening the sunroof on any vehicle with roof bars installed. Primarily, there's risk of contacting the bars with the glass of the sunroof when it opens, causing damage to the glass or mechanism. The presence of the bars can also change how wind enters the vehicle, causing discomfort, noise or just annoyance to the passengers and driver. Given how easy the Flushbar kit is to install and remove, I'd recommend removing it when not in use if you want to use your sunroof.
These bars are easy to remove, so I recommend adding a SKS Lock Core set to the bars, available as part # Y07204. These will install in the covers of your towers, and help keep the racks secure while they are on the vehicle.
