I can help you find a roof cargo carrier for your 2017 Ford Explorer, but you will need to do some measuring on your end to ensure it will fit and that the back hatch of your Explorer can completely open.
The Thule Force XT # TH6359B is one of our most popular roof cargo boxes that we have to offer. It is a 22 cu ft box with about 84" of internal length and a weight capacity of 165 lbs (be sure to check the weight capacity of your OEM bars too).
This box is compatible with a crossbar spread of 23-5/8" - 35-1/2". You can determine your crossbar spread by measuring from the center of your front crossbar to the center of your rear crossbar. As long as it is within 23-5/8" - 35-1/2" you know this box will fit!
To determine if you can fully open your rear hatch with this box installed you will need to measure from the center of the front crossbar to the line where your roof and hatch meet. As long as you have at least 54-3/4" you will know that you will have full access to your rear hatch with this box installed (see attached photo).
If you don't already have a step, then you may also be interested in the Tire Wheel Step # PT68ZR to make loading and unloading your cargo box easier.
I have attached some review videos for you to check out as well.
