Concerns Regarding Zerk Fitting With EZ Lube Hubs Working Well For Fifth Wheels

Question:

I have these 7,000 lb hubs on my Fifth wheel but I am hesitant to use the zerk fitting to lube the bearings. I have heard stories of grease bypassing the inner grease seal and getting on the brakes or filling the inner hub with grease. Is this a problem? If so, what causes this and how do I prevent this from happening?

I certainly understand your concern regarding grease getting into the brakes or filling the inner hub. However, this rarely happens with any of our EZ lube Trailer Hub and Drum Assemblies like Item # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K. If it is the right size and you install everything correctly, you should not have any problems. The zerk fitting actually makes lubing bearings much safer and more effective. The key is not to overfill and to use the correct parts for your fifth wheel hub and drum assembly and to replace those parts regularly as they wear out.

I have attached additional information and videos for you to check out as you work on this project.
